Community Commitment
We believe healthy communities are essential for healthy schools, families and businesses. That is why Chartwells supports programs to benefit communities, families and individuals across the nation. We believe in investing time, talent, resources and money in the communities we serve.
We Are Your Community Partner
Schools are often in the best position to directly impact families and communities. Students, parents and individuals throughout the surrounding communities look to schools for guidance, answers and solutions on so many issues. Chartwells is ready to be your community partner. We are available to share information and answer questions on hot-button topics such as childhood nutrition and obesity. We offer catering for community and parent events, a service that ensures quality and safe foods. We help young people achieve worthwhile employment through job placements, work experience, training, scholarships and mentoring programs. We give students, parents and teachers a voice through our Youth Advisory Councils, by attending PTO/PTA meetings and through surveys and ongoing communication. We initiate and support grass roots projects that improve youth employment opportunities and will work with local vendors to help grow minority-owned businesses.
Child Nutrition Advisory Council
The Chartwells Child Nutrition Advisory Council brings together a distinguished group of industry leaders in the fields of nutrition, physical activity, pediatric medicine, sustainable agriculture, dietetics, non-profit foundations and academia to assist our wellness team with the design of innovative and unique programs that will promote our school districts as nutrition leaders. The Advisory Council taps into the knowledge and expertise of members so that we can continue to strengthen our scientific credibility; objectively evaluate our existing programs; and receive guidance for developing future initiatives.
Together, we ensure accurate and innovative programming as school dining leaders by
- Providing nutrition education in the cafeteria and classroom
- Promoting physical activity in schools
- Involving parents and the community to promote a healthy school environment
With the ever changing school nutrition environment and the overweight and inactivity crisis still reaching epidemic proportions in our country, it is important to form strong alliances with industry experts. Members are selected to achieve a balanced representation of the child nutrition expertise and for diversity of perspective.
