Lauren Stuart is all about getting students in Woodland Park excited about dining. As the food service director for the school district, she initiated a Junior Chef program two years ago, and students from kindergarten through eighth grade can participate.

Chartwells K12 and Duval County Public Schools Food Services have recently been announced as a winner of the Show Us Your Tray contest held by USDA Foods and the School Nutrition Association. The contest challenged food service groups participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs to submit a photo showcasing the creative ways in which they have incorporated foods provided by USDA Foods.

Food served in Wilton’s public schools was ranked the fifth best in Connecticut in according to Niche.com’s 2016 Districts with the Best Food in Connecticut ranking.
Each year, Niche ranks more than 100,000 public and private schools based on “dozens of statistics and 27 million opinions from 300,000 students and parents,” according to its website, and creates “best of” lists for schools and districts across the country.

In 2015, CVCHS Chef Wayne Wells created a mini food revolution. All the food is prepared on-site, from scratch, and served up by Wells himself, dressed in his official chef's jacket or his young, red-jacket wearing assistants.
