Petoskey school officials are introducing a new program aimed at getting students to eat a healthier lunch. The program is part of the Farm to School initiative and will be a “Try It Tuesday” monthly sampling of a locally grown fruit or vegetable that is discussed in class and voted on, with the possibility of being added to the cafeteria menu. On Sept. 16, students at Central Elementary School were asked to taste test cauliflower roasted in olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper and a little red pepper. They were then asked to vote whether they like the cauliflower or not. We documented their reactions, which were mostly favorable, for this week’s photo page.
